Current Public Housing Resident Elected City Commissioner

Diedre Cole lives in public housing, but that didn’t stop her from running for city commissioner of Sandusky, Ohio. What’s even more exciting is that she won.

“…the odds have certainly increased for folks in public housing to successfully be able to run for elected office," said Rob Fischer, co-director of the Center on Urban Poverty and Community Development at Case Western Reserve University, according to the Sundusky Register.

Wouldn't it be great if this inspired more current and former public housing residents to run for public office?
